SIGN and convince The European Commission to change their mind

We received some bad news, but there is still time to act. We can still convince the European Commission to change their mind and say YES.



In just a few days on Thursday February 26 the European Commission will decide how they will answer to the demands of My Voice, My Choice and take action that would support every woman in Europe getting access to safe abortion care. 

The Commissionaires are making the decisions behind closed doors and have refused to meet us before they make their decision.


Now we unofficially got information that the draft of the decision is written with a negative attitude, that sends a message that the Commission will continue with its inaction, that they will continue to look away while women suffer, and their health and lives are in danger.


We started My Voice, My Choice 3 years ago because the lack of access to safe abortion care puts women's health and lives at risk every day and because EU politicians didn’t act to protect women. Today more than 20 million women in the European Union don’t have access to safe abortion care. Denying safe abortion care does not reduce the number of abortions it just increases the number of unsafe abortions.


We started My Voice, My Choice because we believe in democracy. We used the only democratic tool given to us to collectively ask something of the EU - the European Citizens’ Initiative. We did everything by the book and we did even more than was requested. We got the support of 1,2 million citizens of Europe, the support of the European Parliament, from member states, heads of state, legal and medical experts. We united people across countries, generations, and political views to demand that the EU finally acts to protect women’s health, dignity, and fundamental rights. But it looks like the Commission still doesn’t hear us.


When democratic institutions refuse to listen, public demonstrations of support is the only option left.
